TCC 2018 Professional Announcement

2018 Professional - Chris Schofield

TCC are proud to announce the signing of our Professional for the 2018 season...

Todmorden Cricket Club are delighted to announce the signing of Chris Schofield as Professional for the 2018 Lancashire League campaign.

Chris is a vastly experienced cricketer having played First Class Cricket for both Lancashire and Surrey, while the highlight of his career would surely be representing England not only at Test level but T20Is also.

His left-handed aggressive style will suit our batting line up, while his leg spin will be something that a majority of the league may find challenging.

On the signing of Chris, Chairman Mark Clayton said:

“We are delighted to welcome Chris to the club as professional and on behalf of the club I would like to wish him every success in his new role.”

A delighted First XI Captain Andrew Sutcliffe added:

“Over the course of the winter we have been close with a couple of professional’s but as soon as we knew he was available we acted quickly to secure his services.

Chris has regularly averaged over 50 with the bat and less than 20 with the ball at club cricket over recent years, if he does that again this year it will be a good summer.

Schoey has come with excellent recommendations from former players and friends of the club about his ability and character, we are confident he fits the bill and will be a success.  He is still a top class player and he lives locally, he has represented England, been through the county system and he knows league cricket inside and out, it is a no brainer to have him involved.  He will instantly have the respect of every individual at the club.

It will be a refreshing change to have a professional at preseason training, playing in friendlies and available for the whole summer. His knowledge of the clubs joining our league will also be invaluable.

Another big plus point is his commitment to junior coaching and the amount of contracted coaching hours this agreement comes with which I would expect to grow going forward.”

Welcome, Chris and from us all at TCC we are wishing you all the best this year!

An interview with Chris will be coming very soon.

Stay tuned!
